Linklater Voice

Welcome to the Kristin Linklater Voice Foundation (KLVF), the central home of the international community of Designated Linklater Teachers and supporters.

We are a membership association established in 2026 to uphold the legacy of the late Kristin Linklater. Led through the shared values of Community, Integrity and Respect, our purpose is to ensure the ongoing quality of Linklater Voice™ work.

Kristin’s vision was that everyone, whatever their means or background, would realize their potential by freeing their natural voice.

Drawing on the progression of exercises she inherited from her teacher Iris Warren, Kristin developed and refined a methodology through 60 years of active experiential research that has become one of the world's most recognized voice pedagogies in actor training.

We are now over 300 teachers trained by Kristin, known as Designated Linklater Voice teachers (DLTs). We span the globe across 28 countries and collectively continue to train countless actors, performers, speakers and business professionals.

Kristin Linklater saved my voice. Because of her gentle care, I have a career today. Her voice work expanded me and gave me such confidence that I booked my first gig at Shakespeare in the Park, NY.

A few years after I had major surgery on my head and neck. I became incapacitated for two years and my vocal abilities were severely challenged.

Kristin Linklater gently nudged my voice back into fighting shape. When I wasn’t working with her, I worked with excellent Linklater teachers and colleagues.

I would not be the respected working actor I am today if not for Kristin Linklater.

When I was 16, a director invited me to attend what he described as ‘a voice class’. He said the class would be taken by, as he described her, this genius young voice teacher, Kristin Linklater.

So I attended her class not knowing what to expect . . . and it changed my life. . . forever.

Kristin Linklater taught some of the industry’s greats:

Sigourney Weaver - Actor, Golden Globe and Academy Awards

Bill Murray - Actor, Golden Globe, Emmy, BAFTA and Academy Awards

Brian Cox - Actor, Order of the British Empire and 4 Honorary Doctorates

Mikhail Baryshnikov - Dancer, choreographer, actor, Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor and a Golden Globe nomination

Patrice Johnson Chevannes - Award-winning filmmaker, actress, writer, director and executive producer

Linklater Voice is…

A progression of exercises designed to free and strengthen the expressive capabilities of the human voice by connecting sound with our primary thought/feeling impulses.

A precise, practical, and deeply transformative practice that restores the human voice to its natural, genetically unique capacity for power, nuance, and emotional truth.

A globally recognized voice training methodology.

Constantly being refined through experiential research across the world.
